Setting up Email Notifications

The App Administrator configures the Rule Lifecycle Management App (RLM) to send out email notifications that alert Rule Owners about rules that require their attention. In addition, the App Administrator can configure the content of the outgoing email message.

To access these settings, navigate to Settings () >Email notifications.

Configure Email Notification Settings

In the Email notification section:

  1. Enter the following information for the outgoing emails:
    • Outgoing SMTP server

    • Port

    • Login user name

    • Login password

    • Sender email address

  2. If you want the email notifications to be encrypted, select Enable TLS.
  3. In the Recertification Email Cadence (Days) field, enter the frequency, in days, by which RLM should send email notifications.
    • If the owner has no rules in My Queue, RLM will not send the email notification to the owner.
    • If the owner has one or more rules in My Queue, RLM sends the email notification.

Configure Email Message Content

Use this section to configure and personalize the content of the email messages that RLM sends to owners:

In the Recertification Notification Content section, complete the following:

  • Subject Line Content: Add the text that you want for the Subject of the email message.

  • Email template: In this box, you can use the existing, default template for your email message or modify the contents as required.

To customize your message, select one or more fields from the Dynamic Fields list. You can add any of these fields to your message:

    • Owner Username

    • Owner First Name

    • Owner Last Name

    • Number of Rules in My Queue

    • Link to My Queue

    • Link to RLM User Guide

For example, to add a salutation at the beginning of the message:

    1. Place your cursor at the beginning of the first row of the email template.

    2. Type Greetings an select Owner First Name from the Dynamic Fields list.

    3. Click Add.

    4. Type a comma (,) and press <Enter>.

Now your message includes a salutation and personalizes the message by addressing the owner. Since the field is dynamic, every time RLM generates an email message, the salutation will include the unique owner's first name.

  • You can click Change logo to add a logo to the message. Note that the recommended size for the logo is 118x80 px.

  • You can click Preview Email Template to see an example of the messages that RLM will send to owners. For example:
