Creating Workflows for the App

Overview

The Rule Lifecycle Management App (RLM) uses workflows in SecureChange to implement certification decisions. There are three types of workflows that the TOS Administrator creates in SecureChange. The App Administrator configures RLM with these workflows and RLM uses them as follows:

  • (Mandatory) The Rule Recertification workflow certifies or decertifies rules based on Rule Owners' decisions.

RLM uses this workflow to implement the certification decision. The App Administrator can enable RLM to update the rule metadata automatically or allow a Handler to update this information manually.

  • (Optional) The Rule Decommission workflow disables rules that have been decertified.

The App Administrator can configure RLM to open a Rule Decommission workflow and disable the rule automatically after it is decertified.

  • (Optional) The Rule Modification workflow opens a ticket when multiple Rule Owners disagree about the certification decision.

The Handler reconciles the disagreement by removing the decertification owner's networks so that the rule can be certified. This workflow is only available for devices that support rule modification.

This topic describes the specific structure that RLM requires for each of these workflows. We recommend that you create workflows that will be used exclusively by RLM. To learn more about workflows in general, see Creating a Custom Workflow.
